It's said that music is the universal language. And even though it's considered an American creation, jazz music in particular is performed and enjoyed all over the world—including in the central European nation of Slovenia.
For anyone who might be unfamiliar with Slovenia, it's one of the countries formed after the dissolution of the former Yugoslavia. Located at the northern end of the Adriatic Sea, Slovenia is bordered on the west by Italy, on the north by Austria, on the east by Hungary, and on the south by Croatia. GRETSCH® DRUMS WELCOMES MATTY AMENDOLA TO ARTIST ROSTER
May 06, 2014
Renowned producer, songwriter and musician to endorse Gretsch
GARFIELD, N.J. (May 6, 2014) —Gretsch Drums is pleased to present Matty Amendola as the latest addition to the Gretsch family. Amendola is an in-demand session drummer and producer whose work has appeared on the Billboard Singles Chart, in commercials shown on television globally, and in high-profile corporate events across the U.S. Matty’s latest endeavor is his studio and music incubator 825 Records, Inc., based out of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Drumming since the age of 13, Matty Amendola has mastered multiple instruments. In addition to playing bass with Damien Fahey’s band The Classic Futures, Amendola has written, recorded and produced two solo albums. He is currently working with burgeoning rocker Eddy Davis on producing his debut album.
"It's no secret that Gretsch Drums are synonymous with ‘studio drumming’”, says Amendola. “I don't think there is a science to why Gretsch drums sound so great under mics, they just do; with their own character that helps express your own.”
Matty has found the sound he needs in the Brooklyn Series drum kit, with a “two up, one down” setup with a 22” bass drum and 6.5”x 14” snare drum – all in Satin Tabasco finish.
“The Brooklyn series, (as fitting as the name of the series seems for me) are the best drums I've ever sat behind. They're huge and warm, but focused and punchy. They're incredibly dynamic and expressive, yet still let you beat the shit out of them. It sounds like a vintage kit, living in today's world. I've always loved that balance of raw, organic, live, vintage instruments paired with something that can stand on its own in this digital age, and I may need a dozen guitars in my arsenal, but with the Brooklyn series, I only need one drum kit."
