Celebrating A Double Anniversary

Any anniversary celebration is special. But when it’s a double anniversary, that’s extra-special. And when one of those anniversaries marks 130 years…well, that’s unique.

So it was with the Gretsch 130th Anniversary celebration, which was held this past May 4 at Randy Wood’s Pickin’ Parlor in Bloomingdale, Georgia. The location was appropriate, since Bloomingdale is just “down the road a bit” from Pooler, which is where my wife Dinah and I reside. And the Gretsch USA Custom Drums factory is located just across the river, in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Practice Makes Perfect With the New Gretsch® Round Badge Practice Pad

Gretsch Drums introduces four new practice pads modeled after the revered “Round Badge”, a mainstay on Gretsch drums for the better part of four decades of its 130-year history. The pads feature a silica-gel surface with a dense wood base, and include a pad mount insert that conveniently fits any standard practice pad stand or cymbal stand. A non-skid foam rubber backing allows the player to use the pad securely on a flat surface. The Gretsch Round Badge Practice Pad comes in two sizes: 12” (MSRP $55.99), and 6” (MSRP $35.99), and is available in colors orange on black or gray on black.

“Practice pads have long been a proven tool for drummers to improve their technique,” said John Palmer, Director of Product for Gretsch Drums. “These new Gretsch practice pads use a classic Gretsch Round Badge graphic that fits the round pad base perfectly. It’s a cool and unique look, and one we think will appeal to Gretsch fans.”
