Gretsch has added three new finishes to the USA Custom offering for 2011.
For the first time in company history, Gretsch USA expands its Duco finish offering with Chestnut and Savannah Sunset transparent Duco finishes. Chestnut Duco finish is based on the Piano Black/Walnut/Piano Black color scheme; Autumn Blaze Duco has a Walnut/Burnt Orange/Walnut color scheme. Each shell receives hand-rubbed color application along with a multi-step hand sprayed color treatment. From there, shells then receive a multi-step, Nitrocellulose Lacquer process that includes extensive hand and wet sanding. The lacquer is then buffed to a high-sheen gloss. Both finishes are available to order on all USA Custom drum sizes.
Twilight Glass Nitron finish is an updated remake of Gretsch’s classic “Starlight Sparkle” finish from the late 1950’s, featuring a smoky gray/bronze hue infused with glass shards to create a highly reflective shimmer. Gretsch artist Stanton Moore has extensively performed on a USA Custom drum set in this color and was an inspiration to resurrect this finish into the standard Gretsch USA color offering.

The Catalina Maple series starts with the Gretsch maple formula shell. We carefully developed the maple shell specification to produce tones that explode with attack and volume and project a balanced amount of warm, low-end frequencies. All Catalina Maple shells are 7-ply, 7.2mm.
The Catalina Maples are available in two configurations - a 6-piece shell pack set and a 5-piece shell pack set. Add-on drums are also available to allow for further drum set expansion.
