Gretsch Drums will have a major presence at this years’ Chicago Drum Show on May 15/16. This year marks the Chicago Drum Show’s 20th anniversary and Gretsch is participating at several levels.
Fred Gretsch and John Palmer (Gretsch Drums Product Manager) will deliver a multi-media Gretsch Company presentation that includes in-depth company history, important drum innovations and prominent artist activity. Fred’s personal anecdotes provide a first-hand account into the colorful traditions of the 127 year-old Gretsch Company. The main presentation will be on Sunday at 2pm in the Master Class Room. Fred and John will also make a similar presentation on Saturday at 2pm at the Drummer’s Café.
Gretsch Drums will also make its first formal booth showing at this years’ event. Gretsch will show current and vintage USA Custom drums sets and some special snare drums that have been created especially for this show. Most items will be available to purchase at the show. Gretsch artist, and Chicago local, Hannah Ford will appear at the show on Sunday at 11am in the Clinic Room with her band Pandorum. Hannah continues to explore creative possibilities and will undoubtedly get the day jumping with a high-energy performance.

The Catalina Maple series starts with the Gretsch maple formula shell. We carefully developed the maple shell specification to produce tones that explode with attack and volume and project a balanced amount of warm, low-end frequencies. All Catalina Maple shells are 7-ply, 7.2mm.
