Solid Spun Brass snares use a heavy, spun brass shell, which is not casted, but spun into form using high centrifugal force. Shells are seamless and 3mm thick with a straight shell wall. Top and bottom edges are rounded except at the snare bed where it is flat. Shell interiors feature a natural finish, and are not polished. The un-plated shell exterior is finished in a clear lacquer and features the classic center Gretsch knurling pattern. Additional features include Lightning throw-off, top and bottom die-cast hoops, 'Snap-In' key holder, classic Gretsch 'Drop G' octagon badge, Permatone coated top with underside dot/clear bottom heads and 42-Strand snare wire.

The Catalina Maple series starts with the Gretsch maple formula shell. We carefully developed the maple shell specification to produce tones that explode with attack and volume and project a balanced amount of warm, low-end frequencies. All Catalina Maple shells are 7-ply, 7.2mm.
The Catalina Maples are available in two configurations - a 6-piece shell pack set and a 5-piece shell pack set. Add-on drums are also available to allow for further drum set expansion.Read More
