About the Artist
Mark Escueta started playing drums at the tender age of 13 and in 1994 became the original drummer of the most awarded band in the Philippines today, Rivermaya. Since then, the band has released 14 albums, won numerous critical and commercial accolades, and has toured a number of times in other countries like the U.S. and neighboring Asian territories.
Their recent awards were winning the Best Rock Album and Best Alternative Recording at the 2002 Katha Awards; Best Group and Best Video in the 2002 MTV Pilipinas Awards; and Best Group in the 2003 MTV Pilipinas Awards. In 2005, they bagged the Best Group Philippines in the MTV Asia Awards and repeated the same feat at the 2006 MTV Asia ceremony.
They released a brand new album in 2006 entitled “Isang Ugat, Isang Dugo”, with a new patriotic single, “Isang Bandila”.
Mark Escueta currently plays on a Gretsch Catalina Birch drumset.
