About the Artist

DAVID DERGE is one of the best and most versatile drummers playing today. Heís performed and recorded with many artists encompassing an impressive variety of musical styles, including the sophisticated contemporary jazz of David Benoit, The Rippingtons, and the innovative new group Shapes, the iconoclastic folk/rock of Richard Thompson and Shawn Colvin, the neo-swing of The Brian Setzer Orchestra, the Salsa and Latin Jazz of Orquesta Yambo and Clare Fischer, the Brazilian music of Feijoada Completa, the hard-hitting funk of The Boneshakers, the envelope-pushing arrangements of the Bill Fulton Band featuring Ernie Watts, the rootsy Americana of Preston Smith, and the smooth jazz of keyboard whiz Scott Wilkie. Over the course of his career, heís accompanied such diverse and legendary artists as Cannonball Adderley, Jose Feliciano, Larry Carlton, Mark Murphy and Eddie ìCleanheadî Vinson. He has also co-led two critically acclaimed original groups, Dark Horses and Game Theory. Whatever the style or challenge, David always brings to it experience, conviction, energy, solid time and chops.

Davidís television and film credits include Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine, Gilmore Girls, Arliss, Peanuts and Garfield Specials, Sliders, Jim Carreyís "Man on the Moon" and the pilot for the new Fox series "Arrested Development." He has also performed on numerous radio and television commercials. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago and has taught and performed at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, Los Angeles Music Academy and the Dick Grove School of Music. David teaches privately, when time allows.
