About the Artist

Drummer Paul Goldberg, was born in Washington DC. He relocated to Atlantic City, NJ. at age eight ... At this time, Paul started "playing by ear" on pots & pans. At age nine is when he started reading music & really studying the drum set.

Paul later earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Drums/Percussion from "University of the Arts" in Philadelphia PA., where he studied with Nick D'Amico, & Micky Bookspan (of The Philadelphia Orchestra.) Paul also commuted to NYC to study with Gerry Brown, & Kenwood Dennard. After graduating college, he played numerous casino showrooms, & lounge acts in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, & Lake Tahoe for 4 yrs before moving to Los Angeles.

Since relocating to LA, Paul has recorded on several Film Soundtracks such as ... "Poseidon," his tracks featured "FERGIE" (of the Black Eyed Peas on vocals), "The Nutty Professor II," his tracks featured "Eddie Murphy" on vocals, and "Rush Hour II" to name a few. He recorded music for many TV Shows such as ... "Amy Poehler's Parks & Recreation" (Main Theme), "American Dreams" (Main Theme), & episode tracks for "HOUSE, Starter Wife, & Girlfriends." Paul also has recorded &/or performed with many artists, such as Tom Petty, The Manhattans, P.F. Sloan, Howard Kalan, Terry Black, Jan Berry, Terry Reid, Gerry Goffin, Bob Cranshaw, The Fowler Bros., Pete Christleib, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Roselyn Kind, Peggi Blu & Ted Perlman, two Gold Records for Michelle Nicastro ... of Classic Disney music (for The Varese Sarabande label), and with numerous accomplished musicians, & songwriters.

Paul's also played shows with numerous comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Ross, Chevy Chase, Carl Reiner, Paul Riser, Rita Rudner, as well as classic theater pit work (such as Stephen Sondheim productions.) He's written several drum set transcriptions for "Modern Drummer Magazine," and his "Terry Bozzio" transcriptions made it into "The Modern Drummer Treasury Issue", "Best Of." Paul's been featured in articles in M.D. magazine, LA Jazz Scene, Music Connection Magazine, and other east coast and European entertainment papers. Paul has been a percussion instructor at many schools, music stores, & privately, and continues to teach drums & percussion privately.

The Catalina Maple series starts with the Gretsch maple formula shell. We carefully developed the maple shell specification to produce tones that explode with attack and volume and project a balanced amount of warm, low-end frequencies. All Catalina Maple shells are 7-ply, 7.2mm.

The Catalina Maples are available in two configurations - a 6-piece shell pack set and a 5-piece shell pack set. Add-on drums are also available to allow for further drum set expansion.
