We asked... Why Gretsch?

Ever since I heard Moonflower by Santana as a kid and hearing the sound of the drum kit-snare,toms etc..., played by Graham Lear, Gretch was engraved in the back of my mind.

I love the slightly thinner shells that Gretch has, plus their classic or vintage looking lugs that they've stayed true to as well as their 30 degree bearing edges. Most drum companies stay with 45 degree bearing edges, so I love the change. I love the even more vintage looking New Classic tube lugs too! I also love the fact that the New Classic shells are thicker ply and I can have a piece of both worlds being thick and thin. They all sound, look, and feel great and consistent. These drums are rock solid. It is a true honor and pleasure knowing that Gretch took me on!

The Catalina Maple series starts with the Gretsch maple formula shell. We carefully developed the maple shell specification to produce tones that explode with attack and volume and project a balanced amount of warm, low-end frequencies. All Catalina Maple shells are 7-ply, 7.2mm.

The Catalina Maples are available in two configurations - a 6-piece shell pack set and a 5-piece shell pack set. Add-on drums are also available to allow for further drum set expansion.
