About the ArtistNic Milliner was born in Pineville, LA on December 30, 1978. He began playing drums by the age of eight, and by age eleven was studying all types of percussion.
After graduating from high school in 1997, he moved on to pursue a college degree, attending Northwestern State University and Louisiana State University. While in college, Nic studied privately and performed locally with several bands and University ensembles including marching band, percussion ensemble, orchestra, wind ensemble, and jazz ensemble. In 2000, Nic was a member of the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from Rosemont, IL, during which they won the World Championship as well as High Percussion Award. These experiences not only helped shape Nic as a performer but also as a teacher versed in rudimental and orchestral percussion, and variety of drumset styles.
After graduating from college in 2002, Nic moved to Nashville, TN to pursue a career in music. Nic currently resides in Nashville, where he is a freelance performer, session musician and teacher. Most recently, Nic has performed in a series of Christmas shows with country artist Jo Dee Messina and finished a recording with his own instrumental group, Worthy Adversary. In 2010 Worthy Adversary released it's first album entitled "in Aggreement". Nic has been touring with Grammy Award winning country artist Joe Diffie since 2004.
Nic has also been an active percussion instructor, having instructed and arranged for Pineville High School (LA), Southwood High School (LA), Bossier High School (LA), The Colony High School (TX), McGavock High School (TN), and Wilson Central High School (TN). Nic is currently on the percussion staff at Father Ryan High School in Nashville where he also teaches private lessons. During the 2009 season the group was a Bands of America finalist and won the silver medal at the WGI World Championships. In 2009 Nic was commissioned to compose music for the NBA Memphis Grizzlies Drumline.
Over the years, Nic has had the opportunity to perform and/or record with the following artists: Jo Dee Messina, Joe Diffie, Wayne Toups, Mike Williams (Count Basie Orchestra), James Burton (Elvis Presley Band), Lorrie Morgan, Hardrick Rivers Revue, Roques Blues Band, John Fred (The Playboys), Kix Brooks (Brooks and Dunn), Luther Kent (Blood Sweat and Tears), G.G. Shinn and The Memphis Horns.
