Rod Gilbert

About the Artist

Rod Gilbert has been a well known musician and singer on the Australian jazz circuit since co-founding the premier 4-piece swing band, The Shuffle Club in 1999.

Having started performing live at the age of 16, he is now firmly established as one of Australia’s most sought-after front men and talented drummers – with critics comparing his smooth warm tones to the likes of Sinatra and Bobby Darin and his drumming style to that of Art Blakey, Max Roach and Ed Thigpen.

With his unique ability to make every member of an audience feel that they are experiencing a truly personal performance, he has become a familiar figure as part of The Shuffle Club in jazz, arts and cabaret festivals throughout Australia, Japan and the UK. Now based in Melbourne, Rod is still regularly performing across the world to sold out houses and 5* reviews.

He has featured alongside accomplished performers Gil Askey, Julie O’Hara, Katie Underwood, Bob Sedergreen, Steve Sedergeen, Bob Valentine, Debra Burn, and Peter Gaudion – having also performed and collaborated with international talents the likes of Nina Ferro (UK), Warren Vache (USA) and Corey Wilkes (USA).

Rod also plays regularly in the tightly arranged, piano trio, Overproof, and is often seen fronting his own Big Band at corporate events and festivals.

The Catalina Maples are available in two configurations - a 6-piece shell pack set and a 5-piece shell pack set. Add-on drums are also available to allow for further drum set expansion.
